Vice President of Construction & Development
Ken Samuels leads construction coordination and development services at Planera + Reid, a trusted Chicagoland architecture firm serving educational and municipal clients. He oversees architectural construction services and construction management efforts for both client-led initiatives and internal design-build projects.
With more than 35 years of experience in the construction industry, Ken brings deep expertise in project management, strategic planning, scheduling, technical troubleshooting, and performance optimization. His leadership ensures that projects move efficiently from initiation through completion while maintaining alignment with design intent, quality standards, and budget expectations.
His responsibilities include managing project development from concept to closeout; serving as a liaison between stakeholders, contractors, and design teams; tracking and reporting key milestones; and leading project teams with clarity and accountability. Ken also develops best practices and operational tools to enhance efficiency, conducts risk assessments to minimize project exposure, and aligns financial oversight with project constraints to support responsible stewardship of public resources.
